I am proud of the way that my project turned out and my completed product/prototype is almost exactly what I had imagined. The website took a lot of hard work and time to create, it required quite a great deal of planning. This project has taught me a lot of things, I have learnt how to combine my skills from multiple subjects together to create one product which I can identify with. The product included a lot of my interests and aspects of my life included into it which made it a really fun and memorable experience as my dream has been fulfilled.
This meant that I was able to create a high-quality product which I believe would score a level 6/8. This is because while I did meet a lot of my criteria and work very hard on my project, I know that I could have done better and worked on it to achieve the highest score possible. As shown on the left, I assessed my product using the criteria. According to my self-assessment, I could have: included a pump and filter made from eco-friendly materials and also the fact the when the model is measured in the CAD software, it does not completely add up to the scale of the real life product.
Through the project I feel like I have mostly developed the thinker and open-minded IB learner profile as I have utilized these profiles the most during the development of my product’s design ideas. The open-minded profile helped me welcome new, complex, out of the box ideas such as ferrofluid. It also enabled me to strive for a more challenging idea. The thinker profile then helped developed on said ideas. To do this I had to put in a ton of hours into research to find out everything about ferrofluid and polarity. To add, I had also researched on wave sizes, forces to better understand how to create a product that can be used effectively in the oceans however I still felt that it would’ve been better if I had questioned product designers who had created ocean cleaning products as this would let me create a more accurate model and design for the product. |
