ABOUT THE PROJECTBuoy inspired ocean cleaning productFor my personal project I decided to develop an ocean cleaning prototype on a CAD software called Fusion 360. I wanted to address the issue that the majority are not aware of. Are you aware that you could be ingesting a total of 5 grams worth of micro-plastics per week? That a whole credit card! Micro-plastics have been proven to be harmful to almost all living species. This prototype will be able to continuously filter out micro-plastics from the ocean. However, I did not stop there, as a bonus this prototype uses oil pollutants found in the ocean to do so.

Goal:
My goal was to develop an ocean cleaning product on fusion 360 that would be able to filter out micro-plastics and crude oil from a body of water. I wanted to develop a product that can be used for a method I would’ve adapted myself from different methods. Global Context: The global context I chose for my project was Scientific and Technical Innovation because it relates to my project the most as it consists of how humans and the natural world interact, how humans affect the natural world and how scientific and technological advances impacts communities and environments. I used this global context to help drive my project into using more advanced filtration methods such as the method with ferrofluid. So therefore, this global context in turn will make my project more sophisticated as I will be using more advanced, out-of-the-box ideas. |
